Goal 4 Reflection

Throughout my MA program, I gained a much better understanding of how technology can support student learning when it is used with purpose. As a middle school PE and special education teacher as well as baseball coach, I have always believed that students learn best when they are actively engaged. My coursework helped me see how technology can enhance that engagement while also making learning more accessible for all students.

One artifact that demonstrates my growth is my Article Summary.  Through this assignment, I explored technologies such as fitness trackers, mobile apps, virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. I learned that technology is not just about using new tools but about evaluating whether those tools truly improve learning. This assignment helped me think more critically about the benefits and challenges of technology and how it can be used to motivate students and meet diverse learning needs. The lesson plan used for the artifact demonstrates how I have applied what I learned. In this lesson, I incorporated technology supports and assessment tools to engage students and provide multiple ways for them to demonstrate understanding. Creating this lesson helped me recognize how technology can support differentiation and make learning more meaningful for students with different strengths and needs.

One of the biggest things I learned about myself during this program is that I learn best when I can connect theory to real-world practice. Because of that, I now try to create learning experiences that allow my students to actively participate, collaborate, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. I have become more confident in using technology as a tool to support instruction rather than viewing it as an add-on.

Moving forward, I plan to continue exploring new technologies that can increase engagement, improve assessment, and support all learners. Overall, my MA program has helped me become a more reflective and intentional educator, and I believe this growth has positively impacted the students I teach every day.
